Pastor's-Message

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Sharon Jones, Pastor

Our Vision:  A beacon of God's love, radiating hope, faith and joy . . . everywhere.

Vacation Bible School, August 11 - 15, 9:00 AM to Noon  -  God's Big Back Yard.

Get ready for outdoor adventure that starts in our own backyard and will get bigger each day as we take the love of Jesus into our neighborhoods and communities.  In God's Big Backyard, children and youth will:

  • Explore Bible servants and be challenged to serve each day

  • Listen to people who serve their neighbors and participate with friends in service projects.

  • Work together to create cool Bible crafts and play fund games that will remind is to serve others.

  • Celebrate the joy of showing God's love through service to their families, friends, neighbors, community, and Jesus.

This year children and youth, ages 4 - 14, will be in same age-level crews; we will even offer a crew for teens!  There are registration forms available downstairs and in the Fellowship Hall.  IF you have any questions or would like to help, please see Cheryl.

How would you like to be part of a group that changes lives?  Have you ever thought of what you could accomplish with the support of many other men of "like minds"?  We want to have a gathering for the men of Aldersgate this summer to explore opportunities for making a difference in our lives and in the lives of those in our family and community.  We wish to explore the possibilities when the men of Aldersgate are of 'one accord'.

It looks to be another beautiful day in God’s World.  At the last “Mighty Men of Aldersgate” meeting, a discussion came about regarding raising funds to purchase a defibrillator for the church.  Since most public buildings and many private companies as well are requiring them to be made available.  I mentioned that I would talk with Stu regarding this subject.  Although he is now retired from Philips (one of the manufacturers of defibrillators) I wondered if he would still have contacts to get us a “good price” and recommend a particular product.  Well, I had two wonderful conversations with Stu over the past few weeks and he and Carole are donating a Philips HeartStart defibrillator to our church.  As a matter of fact, they came down to Chelmsford last evening and delivered the defibrillator and wall storage case to me.  Bob mentioned he would be willing to arrange a CPR course to include the proper use of the defibrillator with his son-in-law who is employed by the Emergency Dept. of Emerson Hospital.  Yes, it’s always a beautiful day at Aldersgate.  We really, really do have warm and generous hearts.  God’s Blessings to you and yours,

Call to Action:

  • Attention – Member Care Needs YOU!  Thank you for your response!  We have had several people sign on for this important ministry!  This committee tries to care for our Aldersgate family.  We contact sick and shut-ins by phone, card or visit, deliver flowers, provide some meals after surgery, and provide rides to appointments when needed.  We would love to have you join us either by setting up meals, rides, visitations, or just by volunteering to be a cook, driver, visitor to shut-ins and members we have not seen in a while.  Please be a partner in care and love to our congregation.  Please sign form on desk in church entry or call Joanne 978-256-9400.

  • Rides Needed to Dana Farber:  One of our church members is going to Dana Farber frequently.  It would be helpful if you could volunteer to drive.  Please let Pastor Sharon know if you can help.  Generally the appointments are mid-day.

  • There is an urgent need for food for our Food Pantry!  Items like cereal, peanut butter, tuna - anything you bring is appreciated.  A further note - please watch that the expiration date has not occurred.  The Food Pantry is an important part of our outreach and your support is appreciated.

  • Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

  • Volunteers Needed for Elder Services

  • Worship Arts Supplies

  • Counters Needed

  • Shoes for Orphan Souls
