Community Outreach

We have a covenant with Habitat for Humanity to which we provide financial support, and volunteers one Saturday a month to be on-site to help in the actual building of new and renovated homes.

We also have a covenant relationship which began over 14 years ago with Sierra Maestra Church in Nicaragua. We provide funding for teachers, students, and the church. In years past, we have sent material aid and provided loans for school building projects.

We continue to operate the Aldersgate Pantry which provides donations of food and money throughout the year to people in need in our town, schools, and local community. Every November, we also provide Thanksgiving baskets to approximately 30 families in the area.

We also participate with many local churches to provide the St. Paul’s feeding program at the Elliot Presbyterian church in Lowell.

We also support many other religious and social outreach activities in the local area, such as Our Father’s House, and UMass Campus Ministry.

News:  15 January 2006

Maureen Perry reports that thanks to your generous donations 30 Thanksgiving Baskets were distributed to church families, local schools, and My Father’s House. Many thanks to the Youth Group and others who helped to assemble and distribute the baskets.

Maureen was happy to report that thanks to your kindness 214 gifts were distributed to families at Christmas.

Joe Casadone reported that our first Angel Tree Christmas, sponsored by the Prison Fellowship Ministries (PFM), provided gifts to seven children in four local families.  The success of this initial effort is due to Kent Leaverton’s vision.  Thank you all for embracing this new outreach ministry.

The PFM also sponsors a program for children to attend summer camp.  Donations are welcome to provide camp scholarships to nominated children.

Leo Berard offered to house and pay electricity for a freezer needed for the Food Pantry.  Anyone who wishes to donate a freezer should contact Jim Ortolf.

Provisions to the Food Pantry continue to be generous.  At this time there is a particular need for baby items. We appreciate all non-perishable donations and accept cash donations that can be used to buy perishables.

The Outreach Ministry supports St. Paul’s Meal Ministry.  Thank you for your continued care in support of this program.
