The Pastor

Pastor Raymond Wilkins was born June 10, 1950. He is the first born of a set of twins and a native of Aliceville, Alabama. Pastor Ray was educated in southern schools. He graduated from Alabama State University in 1974 with a B. A. degree in Sociology. After working over twenty years in the property and casualty insurance industry he answered the call to ministry in 1995.

Pastor Ray attended Asbury Theological Seminary at Wilmore Kentucky in 1997 and was appointed to Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in the Columbus District as a student pastor. He received the Master’s of Divinity degree in 2001 and was appointed to Scott United Methodist in the Indianapolis West District.

During the seven year appointment at Scott, Pastor Ray became an advocate for children and youth. Scott UMC became a safe haven for youth in the Martindale-Brightwood community, developing youth programs and camps serving hundreds of children and their families. He was also a community organizer and activist, forming an environmental justice collaborative to address the severe environmental contamination in the community. As a community leader, Pastor Ray was involved in the effort to reduce crime in the Martindale-Brightwood community.

Pastor Ray began his pastorate at Clinton First on July 1, 2008.
