The new process for ordination adopted by the General Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1996 envisions Christian service as an integral and essential part of the formation of an ordained minister. The points at which actual experience in service to others must be acquired are spelled out in The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church available from Cokesbury Bookstores, 1-800-672-1789.

On this page we will present opportunities for service. If you are pursuing ordination in the Dakotas Annual Conference, you must get approval for any particular service experience from your district committee on ministry before you begin_ . If you have an opportunity in mind that excites you but is not listed here, we encourage you to talk with your district committee about it. We are looking for new service ideas that can be listed here for the benefit of others.

If you are United Methodist not pursuing ordination but seeking opportunities for volunteer church or community service, we suggest you speak with your Pastor. If you need additional ideas or direction, feel free to send us an email message.

Please contact Stephen Perry if you have a service idea that might be added to the listing here.
