United Methodist Women’s News Please save Wednesday, November 18th on your calendar for The Fall Annual General Meeting. All women of the church are invited to a Thanksgiving Evening of sharing a meal and spending time with good friends. We will be receiving your thanks offerings to give to the conference offices toward U.M.W. mission projects. We also ask that you bring a non- perishable food item for either the Food Pantry or The Oxford Inn. We will meet at 6 P.M. for a covered dish supper. Please bring a dish to serve 8-10 people. After dinner we will have a short program to receive your “Thanks Offering” Jars or an envelope. We will then give you information about how the U. M. W. will use your generous offering to provide needed help throughout the world and at local missions. We hope all women will come and spend quality time together, before the busy holiday season begins.
Lois Vitale has donated a wonderful book called, “Through Their Eyes,” that was written by Keith Cleplicki. Mr. Cleplicki works for Catholic Charities. To help us to walk in the shoes of homeless men, Mr. Cleplicki has used poetry to convey the lives these men lead. It is a short book with a large impact on how you see the homeless population. We encourage everyone to read the book and think of the humanity of the people that are receiving your generous donations. The book will be on the UMW cart to be signed out. It will count toward the UMW reading program under Social Action. |
