9th National Gathering of United Methodist Men
Research
revealed a startling statistic about the critical need for
effective men's ministry in the church: "When a child is the first
person in the family to come to faith, the rest of the family will
follow 17% of the time". "When a mother or woman is the first
person in the family to come to faith, the rest of the family will
follow 31% of the time". "When a man/father is the first person
of the family to come to faith, the rest of the family will follow
93% of the time!" Add to this fact that men are more likely than
women to be unchurched and that 75% of men do not attend church
regularly, it becomes clear that there is a tremendous need for
ministry that is focused on reaching men in and out of the church.
