DALLAS NORTH EAST DISTRICT UNITED METHODIST MEN

BY-LAWS

ARTICLE I – MEMBERSHIP

Membership in United Methodist Men shall be open to all men in the Dallas North East District.

ARTICLE II – PURPOSE

The purpose of the Dallas North East District UMMen is to work with, advise, and

encourage fellowships of the United Methodist men in churches within the

District; such as:

1. Assist the local church groups in becoming chartered organizations under the National organization of UMMen.

2. Promote plans and projects of the North Texas Conference United Methodist Men, and encourage the support of these activities among the UMMen groups within the District.

3. Encourage and support the spiritual development of all members of UMMen in the Dallas North East District.

ARTICLE III – FISCAL YEAR

The fiscal year will begin on January 1 and end on December 31.

ARTICLE IV – EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The Executive Committee shall be comprised of five District Officers and four

others as listed below:

1. President – The President shall be the presiding officer at all meetings and shall have general oversight of the activities of the District UMMen.

2. Vice-President – There shall be two (2) Vice-Presidents, designated as First and Second. They will assist the President and preside in the absence of the President.

3. Secretary – The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping minutes of all meetings, and keep records suitable for filing.

4. Treasurer – The Treasurer shall collect and disburse all funds of the District UMMen. He shall prepare an annual budget for approval at the Annual Meeting of the District UMMen. The Treasurer must also maintain records for audit as required.

Why Men's Ministry?

On a typical weekend, about 26 million men attend church services; 68 million do not.
During a typical week roughly 27 million men read the Bible; 67 million do not.
85% of all unchurched men were previously churched.
From 1992 to 1996, the average church attendance among men has declined from 43% to 28%.
