Pastor's Corner
This is an abundant year for acorns.Have you noticed? The parsonage is situated on TIMBER Lane. Our backyard is filled huge white and red oak trees. I was working in the yard raking away thousands of acorns bemoaning the mess and promising my tired muscles this is a two-Advil day. Then, suddenly, an acorn hit my head. I immediately looked up and saw the glory of God's creation. Trees filled with the colors of autumn. How easy it is for us to be so focused on what's below and not look up! Looking up helps us to see the tableau of beauty God has created for us to enjoy. Our lives get filled with so many things that we do not see the larger picture until something wakes us up to a larger vision. Paul tells us that the difficulties we all share are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed to us. This is our hope and it one day will be fulfilled. He tells us, "For creation waits with eager longing . . ." Maggie Durran reflecting on this verse puts it into song. "I walk with you my children through valleys filled with gloom, In echoes of the star light and shadows of the moon. In whispers of the night wind and gentle words for you, To touch and assure you it's my world you’re walking through." Indeed, "All creation is groaning on tiptoe just to see the sons of God come into their own."
