CRIB AND TODDLER ROOM

We are in need of volunteers for the Crib and Toddler Room for the 8:15, Sunday School Hour, and the 11:00 service.  We are hoping to get as many people involved as possible so we only need to ask each person to serve once or twice a year.  A schedule will be available in the Fellowship Hall during the coffee hour and in the narthex after the 11:00 service.  See Lisa Petkis or Kristin Carmon for more details.

SOUND SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT

At the June 17th Church Council Meeting the Council approved a special fund drive of $27,700 to provide much needed work and enhancements to the Sanctuary sound system. The system was designed in the 1960s when the sanctuary was built and as our requirements have increased the original system was augmented and band aided to meet the needs. This has left us with a system that is difficult to use and provides less than desirable results. For more information on what is involved and the research that went into the recommendation speak to Pastor, Charlie Gilman or Bob Gilbert You can be a part of this needed upgrade.

Make checks out to TUMC and write Sound System in the memo field

Angels Wanted
Find out how wonderful it feels to earn your wings.

When mom or dad is in prison, it’s the children who do hard time. But you can let them know they aren’t forgotten. You can give the child of a prisoner the joy of Christmas this year through Angel Tree.
By purchasing a clothing item and a fun item for a prisoner’s child you can bring a smile to their face despite the parent’s absence. Trinity will include an age appropriate booklet that shares the Gospel message – the true meaning of Christmas.
Each year more than 300,000 children nationwide find themselves without one or sometimes both parents during the Christmas holiday season. For the past eight years volunteers from Trinity UMC have had the privilege of providing Windsor children with gifts through Angel Tree. Won’t you join us this year?
Your Angel Tree tag includes the name of a child, their age and clothing size. Also included are some gift suggestions made by the caregiver for a fun item. Tags will be distributed at both services on Angel Tree Sunday, December 6th.
Here are some Angel Tree guidelines to assist you.
Experience the joy of giving by allowing your child to help in choosing and wrapping your gift.
Limit your purchases to between $35 and $40 total per child.
For more information about Prison Fellowships Angel Tree program or to help deliver gifts to local children on December 22nd, please contact Marlene at 688-3793 or mtwilhelm@comcast.net
May you and your family have a very merry and blessed Christmas!
In His Service,
Marlene Wilhelm

MYF - Youth Library

Needs Your Help!!
Our culture is pushing its message on our teens on relationships, sex, dating, money, success, etc.  Can the church combat this deceptive message with the truth?  We can with your help.  Please consider a small donation to purchase Christian books/resources for teens to check out from our library.  You can put checks in the offering made out to Trinity and earmark them "MYF Library." Thanks for your support!!

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
MOMENTS

In the last year there have been many. There have been times to laugh and times to cry. In each of these moments, we have seen God’s hand leading, and we have felt his hand guiding. It is hard to believe another year has passed. We give God the glory for all he has done, and we thank each of you that have followed his leading and given of your time and energy to reach the next generation. Pioneer Club and Sunday School have ended until Rally Day on September ?, 2009. With each ending, God seems to send a new beginning. Please ask God for direction as to where He would have you serve in the fall - keeping in mind that some ministries continue year round. This summer there are needs in Nursery, Children’s Church, and Junior Church. Starting on July 5, there will not only be a Children’s Church, ages 4 through 2nd grade, but also a Junior Church for 3rd-6th grade. This will be a time of singing, Bible teaching, and other Bible-based activities. If you feel God leading you to serve this summer in any of these areas, please let us know.

KLEENEX OR PUFFS TISSUES NEEDED

The Kid Konnection Sunday School classes are studying the parable of the Good Samaritan this month.  To end the rotation, we will be working on Good Samaritan projects to put our lesson into action.  We need 30 boxes of soft tissues to decorate for Kimberly Hall residents.  Any donations would be appreciated.  Please put in the collection box in Fellowship Hall today.

Thank you.  Wanda Carmon

OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE SUNDAY SCHOOL

The children of Trinity have been blessed by the willingness of many of you to serve the ministry by being a workshop leader during this Sunday school season.  What a blessing it is, as a parent and as the Children’s ministry leaders, to know that we have willing members of our church that share in their walk with Christ and become available to be used in the Children’s ministry.

As we begin to fill the workshop openings for April, May, and June, we want to once again ask you if you would be willing to lead a workshop rotation.  As you know, each month has a unique theme.  We are only asking for you to serve during three Sundays during one month.

If you would be willing to help us complete this Sunday school year by leading a workshop, please stop by the Children’s ministry table during the coffee hour on Sunday.  We will be there to answer any questions you might have and sign you up.

Again, we thank for your help in the past and we look forward to you leading an upcoming workshop.

Because He Lives,
Malcolm and Jenn

Library news

TheLibrary Committee would like to thank all those who have contributed books to the library.  Because of your generosity, we are overwhelmed with new books!  So please, hang on to any new donations until we can complete working on the new donations we already have.

Please use the library.  We have a wonderful selection of books.  A lot of new books have just been added to the shelves, including The Shack by William Young.

GOOD SAMARITANS NEEDED

Would you be willing to drive our Delamere people to church (11:00 Service) one Sunday every three months? They love to come to church and are a delight to know. At present there are three people who need a ride.  If you can help, and for further information, contact Judy Smith 688 0693.

TRINITY CALENDAR AND SCHEDULING PROCEDURE

This is a reminder that all meetings on the church campus must be scheduled through the church office.  Be sure to include set up and take down times whether the day of the event or meeting or the day before or after.  If you use the kitchen an application form must be filled out in advance. These forms are available in the church office and will, in the future, be made available on line.   The church calendar for the whole year is available on line so you can check on date/time availability on line.  When the calendar is open you can click on the event to find out information on set up/take down times.

As you know our church building is used by many ministries, groups and events.  Never assume that meeting space is available without first checking with the office.  In most cases meeting dates and events can be scheduled a year ahead of time.  If your event is not scheduled on the church calendar and there is a conflict we will observe the "first come first served" rule.

Nothing is scheduled unless it is done in writing - email is fine - to the church office: office@tumcwindsor.org   Only Barbara Anderson and Arlene Dargenio can calendar/schedule church events.  The office will confirm with you by email that the event is scheduled and approved.  If you do not receive confirmation please contact the church office from 8:30-3:30pm Monday - Friday.

Thanks for your cooperation.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Pastor.

OPPORTUNITY TO MINISTER

flowersTHE 2009 FLOWER CALENDAR

THERE ARE LOTS OF VACANCIES ON THE 2009 FLOWER CALENDAR!

It is up in the narthex and ready to be filled in!  The flowers that grace our worship each Sunday under the cross are given by members of our Trinity family in memory of loved ones who have died or in honor of loved ones for special occasions like anniversaries, births, weddings, baptisms, or spiritual birthdays.
If you wish to have flowers put under the cross, you may sign up on the 2009 flower chart (instructions are beside the chart), then call Jordan Florist at 683-0680 and speak to Karen Jordan, who will be happy to take your order. We have a special price of $35.00.  More elaborate arrangements will be priced higher.  Pay Jordan’s directly.
