THE WILSON BRANCH LIBRARY
is in great need of volunteer tutors. (Adults and High School Students). It’s a wonderful way to help children receive the additional instruction they need to succeed.
High school students are encouraged to volunteer and will receive community service hours. Sessions are only 1 hour per week and are available on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday during the school year.
Please consider helping Windsor students achieve their goals. To volunteer as a tutor, please call the Library @ 247-8960.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER AT TRINITY
If you love Jesus Christ and want to follow after Him, you are welcome to enter the journey that leads to membership at Trinity. We call this the GATEWAY process at Trinity. We will be taking time in these meetings to discover what it means to belong to Christ, to Trinity and to each other. Pastor leads these meetings along with other lay leaders and staff in our church. The first GATEWAY is scheduled for Sunday, October 18th, from 9:40 to 10:30am in Pastor's office. Please speak to Pastor if you would like to participate. We will meet every Sunday from October 18th through November 15th. New Members will be received on November 22nd at both services.
THE BOOK BUDDY PROGRAM
for the Windsor Head Start students is beginning again. In signing up, you will be agreeing to purchase two (2) books this school year—one due in November 2009, and one due in April 2010.
There are 40 students in two classes of 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds. You will receive your “Buddy’s” name, age, and ethnicity, as well as a suggested list of books. The books are distributed to the student to read and take home. You will also receive a “thank-you” from your “Buddy.”
Please consider supporting this outreach ministry in the community. The sign-up sheet is in the Narthex, or call Phyllis or Dale Oswald at 860-644-2910.
INVITATION CARDS
A few weeks ago Pastor introduced invitation cards to use to invite new persons to our church. We have heard some interesting testimonies on how these were used. There are extra cards on the narthex table. Take a few cards and resolve to invite someone to church next week. If you have a story to share on your experience of invitation please let Pastor know.
NATURAL CHURCH DEVELOPMENT (NCD)
As you know our new Vision Statement is:
We believe the Holy Spirit calls us to gather to Worship God,
be equipped and sent out
to make followers
of Jesus Christ
Our Tag Line is:
Called, Equipped, and Sent
At our January Congregational Meeting we formally endorsed these statements. NCD working group is currently putting together various mission statements around these areas of Ministry: Discipleship Plan, Children/Youth, Mission, and Small Groups.
We are also working on putting together a group of outcomes for these areas so we can measure how well we are doing. Please keep this project in your prayers. Your input is always welcome.

HELPING THOSE IN NEED
We are beginning to see in our own congregation the effects of the economic crisis. A few of our own people are out or work. Please remember the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. This is the way that we use to help people. Gifts from the Discretionary Fund are handled and given confidentially through Pastor. Gifts to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund can be given at any time. Simply mark the gift "Discretionary Fund" on the memo of the check and the envelope.
Council on Ministries
This group meets monthly to coordinate, share and be a think tank for the various ministries of Trinity. It was in the Council that our new Sunday School program emerged. All ministry leaders are members of the Council and are expected to be present at these meetings. The Council meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m., in the church library and is chaired by Wanda Siemiatkoski.
